Dred Scott cultivated a deep fondness for the Pacific Jazz Label's music. Operating from 1952 to the 60s as World Pacific Records, it epitomized West Coast jazz. Characterized by its coolness rather than virtuosity, the label featured artists like Shorty Rogers, Shelly Manne, and Chet Baker. This laid-back, accessible music evoked memories of Highway 1 drives, Golden Gate Park, and serene coastal concerts. Despite the label's LA origins, it served as the backdrop to Dred Scott’s years in the Bay Area in Oakland and San Francisco.
